Nintendo Raises Switch 2 Sales Forecast Amid Strong Performance
Nintendo has upwardly revised its sales forecast for the Switch 2 console, now targeting 19 million units by March 2026—a significant jump from its earlier projection of 15 million. The upgrade follows a robust September quarter where revenue surged to 527.2 billion yen ($3.7 billion), eclipsing analyst expectations of 461.76 billion yen. Profit more than tripled year-over-year to 102.9 billion yen, far exceeding the predicted 63.6 billion yen.
Switch 2 sales reached 4.54 million units in the quarter, bringing cumulative sales to 10.36 million since its June launch. While demand has moderated from initial highs, the console's momentum remains strong, fueled by hit titles like 'Mario Kart World' and 'Donkey Kong Bonanza,' which drove 11.95 million software sales. Nintendo shares have rallied nearly 40% year-to-date, reflecting investor optimism.
The company now anticipates total fiscal-year sales of 2.25 trillion yen, underscoring confidence in its hardware-software ecosystem. The Kyoto-based firm's performance highlights the enduring appeal of its flagship franchise IPs and strategic execution in a competitive gaming market.
